May Meeting - Thursday May 2nd 6PM

April showers, bring May flowers....... We've had lots of showers, so lets hope May does bring some flowers and sunny warmer weather!

We are going to change things up this month.

There is a 13 year old girl whose name is Jarnese, she goes to Holy Name school in Essex, she is currently in hospital in London and they have discovered that she has a brain tumour, apparently there is nothing they can do for her. Her family is from the Philippines and our requester does not believe that they have any family in this area. Jarnese, as our requester says, is a fabulous kid - smart, athletic, quiet and extremely close with her family.

At our May meeting we would like to assemble a quilt for Jarnese, so we are asking that you bring your sewing machines and a neutral thread to piece our May block of the month, the Friendship Star. All the pieces for all the blocks needed, sashing, corner stones and boarders will be cut for you ahead of time - all you need to do is come ready to sew!  Instruction sheets will be provided for the block. We should be able to get the quilt top done at the May meeting and hopefully be able to send it out to one of our long arm quilters for quilting, so that we can get this quilt to Jarnese as soon as we can.

We would also like to ask if you would bring along with you a short prayer for Jarnese and her family, so that each time we get a block completed, we can say a prayer for the family.

We will be able to meet by 6PM on Thursday May 2nd - we would like to take a vote to see who would like to bring a brown bag supper or would you like to pitch in for a pizza and salad supper. Jodie will send out an email that you can respond to regarding this vote.

If any questions, please don't hesitate to email Jodie or Ruth.
