October Meeting - Thursday October 3rd 7PM

Fall is in the air.......

There is a smell in the air that just brings fall to mind - it might be the falling leaves, laying on the ground or the soy bean crops, dry and ready for harvest, but whatever it is, this is the only time of year you get that cozy, put on a sweater smell in the air.

This month we will be having a trunk show by member Toni Kok - as you know, Toni has been quilting for many years and has lots of small pieces that have been created into one of a kind quilts. Whether big or small, all Toni's quilts are full of inspiration for you and your scraps.

This month we also have a SEW DAY on Saturday October 5th 9am-3pmish. This time we are asking if you would bring in black, red and white strips, 2 1/2" wide by the width of the fabric. One or two strips or as many as your heart desires to bring. We are going to make these into an easy friendship braid quilt that would be suitable for either a man or woman. See the quilt below that Kathy Wiper put together.

One more October event to pass along is a
SALE at SEWCRAFT
the first week of October is Sew Craft's Anniversary Sale, everything will be discounted, if I remember correctly, by 30% (don't quote me on this, but hey its a sale either which way!) run on into the store to grab some great deals!

Looking forward to November..... We will be having a guest speaker Lisa Hill - Lisa has an at home business selling quilting notions, patterns and books. When Lisa comes to be at TOL, she will just be getting back from the Huston Quilt Market - one of the biggest quilt shows of the year, so she will have lots to tell us and show us for sure. Lisa wanted to let you know that she welcomes special orders, so if there is something you have had a hard time finding, send Jodie an email and we will see what Lisa can do for you. Lisa does not charge tax and accepts cash, cheques and credit cards.

One more thing - check out The Prayer Flag Project blog on the right hand side of the page. I just found a link to it on another blog, sounds very interesting and maybe something we could do in the future.
